UBT part of the joint Eu4Rivers and AMORE-AL workshop on strengthening capacities in water monitoring

The Agricultural University of Tirana took part in a joint workshop under the international projects Eu4Rivers and AMORE-AL, focusing on strengthening professional and institutional capacities in the monitoring and assessment of water resources.

The main objective of this activity was to strengthen human capacities for water analysis, as well as to train specialists in the field of water monitoring and management, thereby contributing to the improvement of environmental standards and the sustainable management of water resources in the country.

During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Ferdi Brahushi, Head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, presented the initiative to strengthen educational capacities at UBT within the framework of the new Master of Science program “Environmental Engineering and Water Management.” This program aims to prepare qualified specialists for the management and protection of water resources, addressing the growing needs of both the public and private sectors.

According to Prof. Dr. Brahushi, this initiative aims to increase the visibility of the new study program within public institutions and to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, particularly in the development of scientific research, the improvement of the teaching process, and the organization of professional training in the fields of environment and water management.

Prof. Dr. Seit Shallari, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized UBT’s capacities to provide training in the field of water quality management. UBT has established the Geospatial and Sustainable Development Information Center, which can be used to offer training services to third parties.

The workshop was organized by the Water Resources Management Agency (AMBU), in its capacity as the institution responsible for integrated water resources management, within the framework of the Inter-Institutional Working Group meeting, with the support of the EU4Rivers project and in cooperation with the AMORE-AL project.

Through this workshop and its involvement in international projects, UBT reaffirms its role as a leading institution in environmental education and research, contributing to the development of sustainable policies and practices for the management of natural resources.
