Scientific research at the Agricultural University of Tirana, through cooperation with the University of Bari ‘Aldo Moro’, Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and the Ionian Area (DIMEPRE-J), within the framework of the Joint PhD Programs, has succeeded in conducting scientific research in the field of soft tissue therapy. This innovative method, which is currently applicable within the One Health approach, aims at the regeneration of soft tissues in humans and animals through innovative methods that stimulate the formation of stem cells, enabling the regeneration of irreversibly damaged tissues.
The stimulation of stem cells in tissue regeneration is a key field of regenerative medicine and cell biology.
In this context, Prof. Dr. Erinda Lika was invited to the Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and the Ionian Area (DIMEPRE-J) at the University of Bari ‘Aldo Moro’ as Visiting Professor.
This methodology aims to be applied in both veterinary medicine and human medicine through the scientific excellence of the Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and the Ionian Area (DIMEPRE-J), for the regeneration of tendon tissues of muscles, neurons, nerve fibers, as well as myocardial cells.
This highly ambitious and visionary project, aimed at providing solutions to challenges that have so far been extremely difficult—such as the regeneration of nervous tissue—has yielded very successful initial results, demonstrating that these approaches will soon be applicable in humans as well.
Once again, sincere gratitude and appreciation are extended to Professor Antonio Crovace of the Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and the Ionian Area (DIMEPRE-J). Special thanks are also due for the contribution and outstanding commitment of PhD candidates Bledar Goxhaj and Taulant Goga, who are successfully completing their doctoral studies in this field under the joint supervision of Prof. Dr. Erinda Lika, Vice-Rector for Science and Projects at the Agricultural University of Tirana, and Professor Antonio Crovace.
This contribution strengthens the position of the Agricultural University of Tirana as an important actor in joint medical sciences research, by linking academic knowledge with practical application and promoting innovation in the service of well-being and health. At the same time, it lays strong foundations for further scientific developments in this field of particular importance for the health of both humans and animals.
