AUT signs cooperation memorandum with the Ministry of Environment for scientific research and sustainable development

It was a special pleasure to sign today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Agricultural University of Tirana and the Ministry of Environment, which represents an important step toward strengthening the role of UBT’s academic expertise in support of environmental governance and sustainable development in Albania.

This partnership formally recognizes the growing role of the Agricultural University of Tirana as a center of expertise in the fields of environment, water management, and forestry, ensuring that projects, studies, and technical initiatives in these sectors benefit from the scientific knowledge and professional capacities of the Agricultural University of Tirana.

A central pillar of this agreement is the shared commitment to strengthening institutional capacities to support Albania in meeting the requirements of Chapter 27 of the European Union acquis, which relates to the environment and climate.

Through scientific research, professional expertise, and academic engagement, the Agricultural University of Tirana will contribute directly to the preparation and implementation of standards harmonized with those of the European Union.

This agreement also opens pathways and opportunities for all graduates of the Agricultural University of Tirana in the fields of environmental and water engineering, as well as forestry, to be employed and become part of the agencies under the Ministry of Environment, thereby strengthening the link between academic training, public institutions, and the country’s environmental priorities.

This collaboration reflects the broader vision that the Agricultural University of Tirana is implementing under the academic mentorship of BOKU University Vienna, one of the most renowned universities in Europe in the fields of environmental sciences, water management, and forestry.

Through such partnerships, the Agricultural University of Tirana continues to place knowledge, scientific expertise, and the new generation of professionals at the service of Albania’s environmental future and its European integration path.
