The Rector of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Fatbardh Sallaku, and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, signed a new cooperation agreement focused on bringing students closer to the labor market and on broader involvement of academic expertise in the development of the agricultural sector.

The agreement strengthens the link between the university and the labor market through professional internships, student career guidance, and informing students about vacancies at the Ministry of Agriculture and its subordinate institutions. Students will have the opportunity to apply for positions aligned with their profiles, based on merit and open competition.

The cooperation will also extend to the academic and scientific levels, with UBT providing the expertise of its professors and researchers in fields such as agriculture, veterinary medicine, food safety, agricultural economics, biotechnology, aquaculture, and water and land management.

This partnership also extends to applied research and the digital transformation of agriculture, including precision farming, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and digital services for farmers. The agreement also provides for the establishment of demonstration farms and Living Labs, where new technologies and practices can be tested and transferred into practice.

UBT will also contribute scientific and methodological expertise within the framework of the IPARD III Programme, in the process of aligning with the European Union acquis, as well as in the preparation and implementation of joint national and international projects.

The three-year agreement strengthens the role of the Agricultural University of Tirana as an academic and scientific partner to public institutions, placing university knowledge and research at the service of the development of Albanian agriculture.
